The origin of Tae Kwon Do can be traced back to the sixth century A.D. At that time a group of Korean noblemen specially selected for their loyalty to the king were trained as soldiers with a philosophy toward the notion of self-defense and warfare. These soldiers became known as Hwa Rang (Flowering Youth) Warriors, thus named because most were selected for this honor when they were in their early teens.
As members of the Hwa Rang , they learned how to focus their personal spirit and inner energy known as Ki toward a spiritual type of warfare. The spiritual code they developed was later incorporated into the Samuari tradition in Japan
The Hwa Rang became better known as philosophers after the seventh century A.D. Today their philosophical legacy lives on and is what we practice at our Dojahng . As you study Tae Kwon Do with us, you will understand that it is more than an intense athletic workout. Tae Kwon Do is a way of life.
